## What it is

Arcane Tutor is a single-page web app for MTG players who want to
*understand* their decks, not just build them. It's especially useful
for:

- **New players** learning what their commander deck actually does
- **Returning players** picking up after a long break who want to
  recap what each card does and how the deck closes
- **Casual deckbuilders** sanity-checking a deck against the
  Wizards-official Commander Bracket system before sleeving up
- **Anyone solo-testing a brew** via the Goldfish playmat

The app is fan-made by a Magic newcomer; it is not affiliated with
or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, Scryfall, or Commander
Spellbook.

## Key features

- **Paste-and-go decklist import** — supports Moxfield URLs, Archidekt
  exports, MTGA, and plain text. Section headers (Commander, Mainboard,
  Sideboard) are recognized; comments, set codes, foil markers, and
  `1x` prefixes are stripped automatically.
- **Card Reference** — searchable, filterable table with inline art,
  mana cost, type, stats, oracle text. Click any card for a full
  detail drawer with rules text, plain-English explanation, lore,
  flavor text, and other printings.
- **Card Types** — tabbed browser of supertypes, types, subtypes, and
  keywords with definitions and a deck composition bar chart.
- **Synergies** — auto-detected win conditions (mass-pump combat,
  infect, voltron, mill, aristocrats, stax, burn, alt-win) plus
  near-infinite combo hints flagging decks one piece away from
  curated combos.
- **Bracket estimator (Commander)** — pegs the deck against Wizards'
  five-tier Bracket system (Exhibition / Core / Upgraded / Optimized
  / cEDH) by counting game changers, fast mana, mass land destruction,
  generic tutors, complete infinite combos, and average mana value.
- **Mana base analysis** — color-balance, fixing density, basics
  count, T1 untapped probability, and recommended swaps.
- **Pricing** — deck total, most/least valuable cards, sortable tile
  grid via Scryfall.
- **Game Flow** — 12-step turn walker, scripted first-turn
  walkthroughs, deck-aware "your first turns" drill, phase cheat
  sheet, and mana primer.
- **Know Your Cards** — flashcard drill recognizing every card in
  your deck across 16 role buckets (Land, Ramp, Removal, Board Wipe,
  Burn, Counter, Card Draw, Tutor, Token Maker, Pinger, Lord,
  Recursion, Protection, Finisher, Planeswalker, Utility).
- **Practice** — four hands-on drills built from your deck:
  mulligan decisions, turn sequencing puzzles, combo walkthroughs,
  and tactical scenarios.
- **Combos** — name-matched against ~15 famous infinite combos
  layered on top of verified combos pulled live from Commander
  Spellbook.
- **Goldfish playmat** — interactive solo testing surface with
  life totals (you / opp / poison / commander damage), mana pool,
  London mulligan with bottom-N, token generator, generic counters
  (poison, energy, charge, time, level, etc.), strict mode (mana
  cost enforcement + summoning sickness), commander cast with tax
  tracking, equipment / aura attachment, and a pile browser for
  graveyard / exile / library manipulation.
- **AI Deck Doctor** — personalized deck review via Claude. Reads
  the deck, identifies cuts, suggests upgrades, and flags
  hallucinations against Scryfall before showing the report.
- **Glossary** — searchable field guide to 74 MTG terms across
  seven categories.
- **Multi-deck** — save multiple decks, switch between them, rename,
  export, share via URL.
- **Shareable links** — encoded deck URL, decklist never sent to a
  server.
- **Privacy-respecting** — no analytics, no tracking, no account.
  Decklists live in localStorage.
